Late in 1996 a select group of publishers quietly began discussions to fund a Internet enterprise that would develop a intelligent agent to mine the net. The agent would search out topical news based on daily input. The bot would present, compile, analyze, evaluate and then publish this information. The mission was to use this aggregated data to predict the next hot story. They called this project, "Newstronic".
