  • Total online population is 260 million.
  • 42 % of the total online population is non-English speakers.
  • 60% of the global online population is from outside the U.S.
  • By 2003, European online population will exceed the U.S online population.
  • Non-U.S domains account for nearly 50% of all Internet traffic, up from 35% in January 1999.
  • The global market for non-PC information appliances, will grow to 89 million by 2004 from 11 million in 1999. The total market value is expected to grow to USD 17.8 billion in 2004 from USD 2.4 billion in 1999.
  • There are now more than one billion unique documents on the Internet.

    Globalization: The process by which a company breaks free of their home markets to capitalize upon business opportunities wherever their customers may be. Truly global companies consider the need for multi-lingualilty at all stages of product development, from conception to production and support. Some use the term "globalization" interchangeably with "internationalization." Internationalization refers to the act of preparing products for foreign markets, while globalization refers to a company's attitude towards embracing a global view of their market.
